MAGUINDANAO – An unidentified man snatched the flash drive of a vote-counting machine (VCM) inside precinct 33A-38A at the Nabundas Elementary School in Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao on Monday afternoon.

The Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) said the man talked to her and asked if the election was still ongoing. The man then pulled out the blue plastic lock attached to the USB stick and memory card panels of the VCM before running away through an open window.

The BEI said this will not affect the results of the election as the memory card is more important than the USB.

Meantime, an explosion was heard 800 meters away from the rural health center near Nabundas Elementary School.

Authorities said it was from an M-79 grenade launcher and possibly from an armed group in the area wanting to harass voters.

The Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines are monitoring the situation.
