MANILA - Scores of ballots were rejected by the vote counting machine (VCM) at a voting precinct in General Santos City on Monday.

Election officers said the VCM was able to read some 100 ballots at precinct no. 157 at the Oringo Elementary School before it malfunctioned around 8 a.m.

Polls continued at the precinct and voters were made to sign a waiver allowing the board of election officers (BEI) to feed their ballots into the VCM once it is repaired.

A back-up ballot machine was delivered to the precinct but also malfunctioned.

As of posting, some 100 ballots were in the keeping of the BEI while they have yet to solve the glitch.
