Mayoralty bet's mom hurt in Lanao strafing incident


The 73-year-old mother of a mayoralty candidate in Salvador, Lanao del Norte was hurt when unidentified suspects strafed their home on Friday night.

The victim was identified as Salambae Bangcola, mother of
Bebot Bangcola, the mayoralty bet of PDD-Laban.

The older Bangcola underwent surgery after sustaining a gunshot wound on her head.

The victim's family believes the political rivals of her son were behind the incident.

Lanao del Norte police chief S/Supt. Madid Paitao, meanwhile, said that they have yet to identify the motive behind the crime.

The town of Salvador is included in the election watchlist areas of the Commission on Elections due to the election-related violence tallied there in previous polls.
