MAGUINDANAO - Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday said he will no longer raise citizenship or residency issues against fellow presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe.

This, after the high court denied with finality all motions for reconsideration on its decision declaring Poe as qualified to seek the presidency in the May 9, 2016 elections.

The high court said the three MRs filed on the case "failed to present substantial arguments to warrant a reversal" of its March 8 ruling that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) committed grave abuse of discretion when it cancelled Poe's certificate of candidacy.

Speaking to reporters in Buluan, Maguindanao, Duterte said he will no longer question Poe's qualifications if she is elected President.

"If she wins, she wins. Yun na. Hindi na ako magtatanong pa," Duterte said.

In November last year, after the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) voted against a petition to disqualify Poe on the grounds of her citizenship, Duterte announced his plan to run for president in the May 9 elections.

"What made me decide to run? Was it an offer for money? No. Gusto ko lang sabihin sa lahat stop (expletive) with the Filipinos... I have nothing against Grace but if you run for the highest post in the land...it must be reserved for a true-blue Filipino,'' Duterte said.

"If ever you make it, you will be a presumptive President by citizenship. Hindi ko matanggap yung ganun. What will happen when she is disqualified because she is American? Give me an Igorot, an Aeta, a plumber. Kahit ano basta Pilipino.''

Meanwhile, the tough-talking mayor said he will also no longer respond to the criticisms hurled against him by two of his other opponents, Mar Roxas and Vice President Jejomar Binay, saying the two are no better than him.

Duterte also said that even if Binay repeatedly calls him a "liar" or an "executioner," he is not a "thief" allegedly unlike the Binays.

Binay, for his part, continues his tirades against Duterte over his supposed flip-flopping response to questions on his involvement in extrajudicial killings in Davao City.

"Make up your mind, berdugong mamamatay tao. The presidency is not for the unprincipled and the inconsistent. It is not for liars, braggarts, and most especially merciless killers," Binay said.

"Mayor Duterte palaging pinagyayabang mo na marami kang pinatay, ngayon ito ay tinatanggi mo," he added.
