Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada on Monday endorsed the candidacies of presidential aspirant Sen. Grace Poe and vice presidential bet Sen. Bongbong Marcos.

Estrada announced his endorsement during the proclamation rally for his re-election bid at Liwasang Bonifacio.

He gave Poe, his goddaughter, a copy of wrist bands that he popularized.

Estrada said as he introduced the senator to his supporters.

Estrada described Poe as "more special than me."

Kapwa kami naging artista ng tatay niya,” he added.

Estrada was best friend of the senator's father, the late actor Fernando Poe, Jr.

Hindi niya ako iniwan," he added.

Poe, in her reply, teased Estrada: "Ninong, kaya mo ba ako inendorso dahil natatakot kang mamulto?"

She thanked Estrada for his endorsement. Poe said she is sure it was a difficult process for Erap to choose her.

She added that she has no control over Erap's decision to pick Marcos over her running mate Chiz Escudero.

The Manila mayor and former Philipppine president, also told his supporters that he is backing the vice-presidential candidacy of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos' son Bongbong.

Estrada said he based his decision on the younger Marcos' track record.

Estrada's partner, San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez, earlier endorsed the presidential bid of Liberal Party bet Mar Roxas.

The Manila mayor's sons, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and Sen. JV Ejercito, earlier said they are still thinking whether they will endorse either Poe or Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay. - With a report from Niko Baua, ABS-CBN News
