Comelec debunks discrepancy in OAV receipt

MANILA - Despite circulating stories on social media on overseas voting, only one incident of discrepancy between ballot and receipt has been reported to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Among those stories is a tweet from TV anchor Teddy Boy Locsin, who posted Tuesday: "In the US, a voter showed his receipt. It showed Mar-Leni. He complained he voted Duterte-Marcos. Receipt torn, thrown in his face."

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez urged Locsin to substantiate the claim, but was told to "ignore it."

Comelec Commissioner Arthur Lim said the poll body has looked into the story that Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEI) in the US tore up voter's receipt after complaining of discrepancy.

"We verified with the post, not true," Lim said.
