BUENOS AIRES - At least 14 people were killed on an Argentine highway Friday when a tractor-trailer truck driving on the wrong side of the road crashed into a bus, local authorities said.
The head-on collision, which also wounded 15 people, occurred in western Mendoza province, on a highway that links Buenos Aires with Santiago in neighboring Chile.
"The bus was hit head on by a truck with apparently stolen plates of Brazilian origin," Mendoza's health minister, Matias Roby, told a local news channel.
"At the last check, there were 30 passengers" on the bus, he added.
"We have confirmed 14 people killed: passengers as well as the two drivers of the bus."
