MANILA - Fourteen outstanding individuals who have made an impact as a balikbayan or an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) will be honored on Tuesday in Pasay City.
According to Alyssa Sanez, Media and Promotion Associate of Ex-Link Management and Marketing Services Corporation (Ex-Linke Events), the Outstanding OFW and Balikbayan Reputation Awards (OBRA) aim to "recognize OFWs and balikbayans that have upheld the highest reputation as individuals and deserved to be emulated by others as good examples."
The event, which is on its 5th year, also aims to showcase inspiring examples of the awardees to compatriots overseas.
Sanez said there will be two awardees for each of the seven categories.

"To be an OFW or a balikbayan is a difficult situation. It is difficult to be successful, at the same time, maintain a good reputation," the organizer said.
It added, "OFWs and balikbayans who have maintained good reputation, make their families and country proud. They make us a collective group shine brighter to the rest of the world. It is with this deep understanding that we are recognizing these heroes and gave birth to
Outstanding OFW and balikbayan and Reputation Award (OBRA)."
The 14 individuals will be honored at the awarding ceremony to be held at the SMX Convention Center.
Sen. Grace Poe will deliver the keynote speech.
