Conda and Vergara, both students of the San Beda College Alabang, were the brains behind the winning 3-minute short film entitled "Footbridge".

Their film bested other entries from Brunei, Cambodia, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan, which came in first.

The film fest was founded by Ryotaro Sugi, a famous Enka singer and actor as well as Japan's Goodwill Ambassador to Vietnam.

The competition has been bringing together students with passion in storytelling through film making for the past six years.

It was the first time for the Philippines to participate in the event through the Kizuna project, which invites thousands of youths from the Asian/Oceania regions, including 285 Filipinos, to take part in specially designed programs in Japan.
