MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) - The Philippines has ordered a deployment ban to Israel amid the tension at the Gaza Strip.

“Due to the ongoing lsrael-Hamas armed conflict in the Gaza strip, the DFA raised the security alert level in certain areas in Israel, thus restricting the processing and deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) bound to those areas,” the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) stated in a Governing Board Resolution No. 12 (2012).

The POEA said Alert Level 4 is in effect in the Gaza Strip, which automatically imposes total deployment ban in the area.

Meanwhile, Alert Level 2 is still in effect in southern and central Israel—including Sderot, Beersheva, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem--which limits the deployment of overseas Filipino workers to these areas.

For the said areas, only deployment of vacationing, returning workers shall be allowed.
