MANILA, Philippines - The camp of Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Shulan Primavera on Friday called for a fair investigation as the ambassador faces allegations of sexual harassment.

Primavera's lawyer, Atty. Fred Pamaos, said some of the allegations of Primavera's helper "Mabel" are broad and difficult to corroborate.

The Department of Foreign Affairs' (DFA)  preliminary probe into Mabel's complaint is ongoing.

"It should be them that should prove that the ambassador did this, because in this kind of cases, it has been recognized by courts that these allegations are easy to make and difficult to disprove," Pamaos told ANC.

"It's unfortunate that it appears she's being used right now in a demolition job against the good ambassador," he claimed.

Mabel's lawyer, Atty. Reynaldo Robles, denied that his client is part of an alleged plot against the ambassador.

Primavera has said the allegations are part of a personal vendetta against him by former Ambassador to Kuwait and now Ambassador to Syria Ricardo Endaya.

"She doesn't know Ambassador Endaya. She has never met him, even I have never met him. To be fair to Mabel and to the Ople Center, we did vet the complaint very carefully," Robles said.

"We had to be very careful that we were not accepting a bogus case," he added. - ANC
