MANILA, Philippines – Saudi authorities have assured Philippine officials that Ruben Kebeng, the main suspect in the deadly Riyadh fuel tanker blast, is in good condition.
Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Raul Hernandez said Philippine Embassy officials in Riyadh are arranging a visit to Kebeng, who is under detention.
Kebeng was driving the fuel tanker when it slammed onto a bridge and exploded last week.
A Filipino, Florentino Santiago, was among the 23 people who died in the explosion.
Over 100 people, including 10 Filipinos, were also injured in the blast.
Several colleagues of Santiago believe that the accident happened because Kebeng was rushing to avoid the truck ban. -- Reports from Jorge Cariño, ABS-CBN News; ANC
