AUSTRIA - Filipinos in Austria are trying to drum up support for kababayan Mark Agpas in his bid to win the Austrian television talent competition “Die Grosse Chance” (The Big Chance).

Supporters have been distributing flyers in churches, posting statements of support on Facebook and other social media, sending emails and text blasts, calling the global Filipinos to vote for Agpas on Friday, November 9, 2012.

“It’s again time to unite the Filipinos n Austria. We have done this when Vincent Bueno won the Musical competition some years ago. We should demonstrate again for Mark the spirit of Bayanihan,” said Volet Gerstl, an active Pinay community leader.

Gerstle added that Pinoys should be proud of the talent that they possess.

“Mark is a gifted singer and this should be recognized. Please vote for him on November 9,” Gerstl said.

A Filipino diplomat in the Austria has all praises for Mark, “I’m very proud of Mark Agpas. I look at him and I think he is the Filipino version of Rod Stewart or Joe Cocker. His voice is so powerful and I’m very proud of him because of how far he’s gotten in the competition. I will surely vote for him and I also ask the global Filipino community to do the same,” the diplomat said.

“This coming Friday, November 9, 2012 will be the Greatest Performance of my life being a dreamer. Before I will step up on the stage, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Filipino community in Austria and all my supporters for giving me your trust,” Agpas said.

Looking at the other candidates of the talent competition, Agpas believes that he has little chance to win.

However, he is counting on the support of the 30,000 or more Filipinos in Austria to vote for him.

“I managed to reach my dream to be in the finals. But I am very much confident that my kabayans will be standing behind me. Thank you for your support and above all, thank God for giving me this talent,” he said.

On Friday, Agpas promised to give his best performance.

The show will start at 8:15 p.m. (3:15 a.m. Manila time). Filipinos around the world could watch the show live through internet streaming under Voting numbers will be announced before the show.

Winner of “Die Grosse Chance” will receive a cash prize of 100,000 Euros or about P5.3 million.
