MANILA, Philippines – No Filipinos were hurt or killed in the blast that occurred in a commercial district in Beirut, Lebanon last Friday, according to the Philippine Embassy in Beirut.
Eight people were killed and 78 were injured when a car bomb exploded at a dining and shopping area in Sassine Square in Ashrafiyeh, Beirut around 3 pm Friday.
But the Embassy said they have not received any reports of Filipinos who were hurt or killed in the explosion.
"As far as I know, there are still no reports and no confirmed reports of any Filipinos who have died or have been hurt by this attack. Not seriously injured, anyway,"” said Vice Consul Rona Beth Goce.
Among those killed is Police Intelligence Chief Wissam Al-Hassan, who was said to be the target of the bombing.
Hassan will be buried on Sunday.
