MESA, Arizona - Controversial Filipina celebrity Melanie Marquez dropped a bombshell of a revelation about her new life in America; she is now a farmer.
Marquez, who now lives in Utah, said that her life is not as glamorous as before. She has been busy being a wife, a hands-on mom, and taking care of their farm.
She said that she is now happy and content.
“From glamorous life to unglamorous, I became a farmer,” said Marquez. “Importante sa tao hindi lang puro glamor. Kelangang magkaroon tayo ng abilidad.”
A Wikipedia entry about Marquez says she is now married to Adam Lawyer, a ranch owner and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The entry further said that Marquez “announced an oil find at her Utah ranch; parts of the ranch have been leased by the U.S. for oil drilling.”
After more than a year of being absent from the fashion scene, the former supermodel and beauty queen made a surprise catwalk comeback in Arizona at a local fashion show.
“I feel so nervous, you know. I feel like I’m a beginner. But it’s nice to do the show because it’s a charity show. That’s why I’m here. There is a purpose,” said Marquez.
Marquez donned Filipiniana gowns created by designers Richard Papa, Edgar Madamba, and Edgar San Diego, who have been touring key cities in the U.S. for the past few weeks.
“She’s a fashion icon, she’s a diva. It’s a joy having her with us,” said Edgar Madamba, fashion designer.
Marquez offered her advice for young aspiring models.
“I hope you will learn the tradition and culture, and be a Filipino, you have to love the culture of the Filipino,” she said.
