BRUSSELS – After the successful product launch at the Duty Free Shop in the Philippines, Bleeding Heart Company introduced its rum made in Negros Occidental to a wider audience in Brussels.

"We felt there is an opportunity to bring Philippine rum to a wider audience," said founder Stephen Carroll.

The Don Papa Rum was derived from the name and history of Dionio Magbuelas or popularly known as Papa Isio, a sugar plantation foreman who later on became the leader of the Babaylanes group that participated in the revolt against the Spaniards in the 19th century.

"It's a 7-year old rum, aged and oaked and people find quite striking packaging. And we're delighted to start exporting Don Papa Rum.

Distributors in Brussels are set to bring the first batch of the Don Papa Rum out in the market this month. Report from Raquel Bernal-Crisostomo, ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau
