MANILA, Philippines – Thirty-one distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) arrived in Manila from Kuwait on Thursday morning.
The OFWs arrived on board two regular Gulf Air flights at the Terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Prior to their repatriation, the OFWs were temporarily staying at the Filipino Workers Resource Center (FWRC) in Kuwait.
The repatriates ran away from their respective employers due to poor working conditions, maltreatment or abuse, contract violations, and some for personal reasons.
While at the FWRC, the OFWs were provided with food, medical and counseling assistance and other basic necessities by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA).
