LONDON -- Filipino-American comedian Rex Navarette is returning later this month for his second round of stand-up shows in the United Kingdom.
Navarette will be cracking Pinoy-inspired gags during ‘Ello Again!' which will run for two nights – September 24-25 – at Bar Rumba in London's West End.
The 45-year-old funny-man - who has toured North America, countries in Asia like the Philippines, and most recently New Zealand - fulfilled a personal dream when he made his British bow in June last year.
The Portland-Oregon-based comic enjoyed sell-out nights and has been itching to return ever since.
"I've been waiting since my last and first trip to London to come back already. It's been well over a year. I'm very happy that there's this next chance to do round two," explained Navarette, now in his 25th year as a performer.
"The last time I was in London, it took a while for me to realize that I would finally be performing in the UK after so many years of wondering if there would even be a fan base," he said.
He added “I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there is a pretty sizeable Filipino community in the UK, many of them of the second generation."
Last time around, he joked about a range of topics, including memories from his childhood, experiences in the Philippines, and how dishes like kare-kare and pancit were invented.
Navarette – known for sketches like SBC Packers and Maritess vs the Superfriends – has new stuff to share with his UK-based fans.
"For this next set of shows, I'm hoping I'd be able to do some material I didn't get to do last time. I won't ruin the surprise."
The upcoming shows were organized by entertainment company Imojin Group, who also brought Navarette to the UK for last year's showpiece.
