Body of Pinay MERS-CoV victim arrives in PH
MANILA – The remains of a Filipina nurse who died from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus in Saudi Arabia arrived in Manila on Thursday morning.
The body of Gemma Barrilea Oplas arrived at the cargo section of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 past 10 a.m. It was immediately brought to Bacolod.
Family members and officials from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration were not around during the body's arrival in Manila.
The Negro Occidental native worked as an emergency room nurse at the King Fahd Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Last May, she succumbed to renal failure with very low blood pressure which were all symptoms of MERS-CoV. Report from Atom Araullo, ABS-CBN News
