REDWOOD CITY, California – The number of charges against a Filipino-American teacher who was arrested in March for allegedly molesting his male students have tripled in number, according to a revised complaint that was made public earlier this week.
Ronald Guinto, 32, now faces 87 charges that relate to sexually abusing 13 boys over a span of 11 years. The offenses include dozens of counts of forcible oral copulation and sodomy upon a child, kidnapping, and distributing lewd matter to a minor.
Guinto, who is based in the San Francisco Bay area, pleaded not guilty last Friday to the amended complaint that alleges he abused his victims in eight different counties and on field trips to locations like Yosemite National Park and Mount Diablo State Park.
Guinto was arrested in March after police learned he landed a new teaching job at a Richmond elementary school while being probed for sexual abuse at a previous teaching job.
He remains in custody at the county jail in Martinez on $17 million bail. His next court date is set for September 19.
