Monica Garcia-Montone’s death, which has been ruled suspicious, is still being investigated by the medical examiner.
In a report by the Jersey Journal, Montone's aunt Nierva del Rosario Casten said that her niece’s “sweetness was absolutely and beyond compare.”
Del Rosario-Casten also said that the family has been "catapulted into this never-ending pit of sadness" because of her death.
The Jersey Journal also reported that Del Rosario-Casten had said that her goddaughter was the victim of a "crime of passion."
“In the end, I believe that Monica's downfall was her intense need to keep her young family intact,” she said.
Meantime, Monica's husband, Kevin Montone, who was taken away by police after she was found dead in their home, appeared in court on Tuesday.

Kevin, a son of a retired Jersey City Police Officer, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property, according to a criminal complaint.
Kevin was not charged in relation to his wife’s death.
The Montone's 3-year-old son, who was taken away from the scene on Monday, is now being cared for by relatives.
