MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) expressed regret to the Malta government after an overseas Filipino worker, who was evacuated from Libya, did not board the chartered flight to Manila last Saturday.
"We issued a note verbale to the government of Malta, expressing our regret over what happened," DFA spokesperson Charles Jose said.
Jose said the Maltese authorities are investigating the disappearance of the OFW, who was identified as Rodrigo Andres.
Andres is one of the more than 700 OFWs who were evacuated by the Philippine government from Libya.
Andres reportedly disappeared at the Malta airport, after checking in his luggage. He was scheduled to board the second chartered flight to Manila last Saturday (August 16).
"The Philippine government is extending its full cooperation to the investigation until its final resolution," Jose said.
