MANILA - A children's choir from quake-hit Bohol province won second place at the recently concluded 12th China International Chorus Festival (ICF) held in Beijing, China.
The Loboc Children's Choir (LCC) bagged 2nd place under the Youth Choir category.
The contest was held together with the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) World Youth Choral Education Conference.
During the week-long festival, the LCC performed at the opening concert on July 29 at the Great Hall of People, along with choirs from China, Mexico, Romania, Hungary, Lithuania, United States, Egypt, Portugal, South Africa, Ukraine and Nigeria.
The LCC also performed in a solo concert last August 1 at the National Library Arts Centre.
The LCC is a school-based choir composed of children between the ages of nine and thirteen years old of the Loboc Central Elementary School in Loboc, Bohol, Philippines.
In 2013, LCC gave a moving rendition of “The Prayer” in front of the 16th Century Loboc Church after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake destroyed the historic monument.
The 12th ICF and IFCM World Youth Choral Education Conference were organized by the IFCM together with the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the China Arts and Entertainment Group.
