REDWOOD CITY, California – The search for a missing 6-year-old Filipino-American girl in Washington State ended in tragedy after authorities announced Friday that they found the body of Jenise Wright.
According to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Department, an FBI team using search dogs found the body near the child’s home in the town of Bremerton.
Sheriffs say there is no doubt the case will now be handled as a criminal investigation as they begin efforts to find a suspect.
Wright's remains were turned over to the Kitsap County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The girl was last seen on Saturday but her parents waited a day to report her missing because they say they let her walk through the neighborhood without supervision.
