BRUSSELS – A young Filipina is currently recording her very first composition after winning in a local singing competition in Luxembourg.
Jessica Manalo is slowly making a name for herself in the music industry after winning "The Voice LNW", a singing competition organized by Radio LNW 102.2 in Luxembourg.
"I am going to be the first Filipina in Luxembourg who will do a CD and I'm glad I got this opportunity and I hope it will go on like this," said Manalo.
A recording contract from Perfect Mix Recording Company in Germany was part of her winning prize.
The song she wrote was about the hardships and challenges that a bullying victim faces. The song is personal to her as she experienced bullying because of her color and looks.
The 18-year-old singer has the support of her family.
"Syempre proud ako na ang aking anak ay magkakaroon na ng sarili nyang CD. Sabi ko nga sa anak ko, priority pa rin nya ang pagaaral niya," Manalo's father, Gody Manalo, said.
Manalo is likewise busy with singing gigs with Filipino organizations both in Belgium and Luxembourg. Report from Raquel Bernal-Crisostomo, ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau
