CANADA – Distinguished local and foreign guests were treated to a showcase of the Philippines’ best at the Ambassador's residence Tahanang Rizal in Ottawa.
“They told us that they like Filipinos, of the closeness of our cultural values. So we will show to them that Filipinos and Canadians are very much compatible,” said Philippine Ambassador to Canada Leslie Gatan.
Non-Filipino guests also adored the paintings and talked about owning a barong tagalog and eating halu-halo in the summer time.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, meantime, raved about Philippine delicacies and enjoyed meeting the Toronto performers and Filipinos visiting the ambassador's residence.
“We are blessed in our city to have a very vibrant, dynamic Filipino-Canadian community and certainly many members of the Filipino community do come and immigrate to Ottawa to Ontario and that helps our economy,” the mayor said.
