MANILA - Malacanang appealed to Filipinos in Libya to heed the Philippine government's call to flee the country.

At the same time, Secretary Herminio Coloma of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) condemned the rape of a Filipina nurse in Libya by still unknown men.

The Filipina was reportedly kidnapped and released hours later, after suffering aggression from her captors.

Alert level IV is now in effect for Filipino nationals in Libya, meaning mandatory evacuation. Estimates from the Department of Foreign Affairs put the number of Filipinos in Libya at 13,000.
