REDWOOD CITY, California – The Filipino parolee arrested last week in Southern California after police found a missing girl in his home is an undocumented immigrant.
A report by the Los Angeles Times has found that Kaene Dean, who was arrested last week for sexual assault on a missing 14-year-old girl that was found at his home in Saugus, is in the country illegally.
The registered sex offender who is on parole for burglary had been undergoing deportation proceedings after serving his prison time in 2014.
However, last April, Dean was granted a $10,000 immigration bond after being detained for six months through a Southern California process that allows undocumented immigrants the chance to reunite with their families as they fight their cases.
