CANADA – A Filipino-Canadian student was one of two people killed in a shooting incident at a community barbecue party in Toronto.

Scarborough residents are still grieving the deaths of 23-year-old Fil-Canadian Joshua Yasay, and 14-year-old girl Shyanne Charles.

The two were killed when gunmen opened fire at a party along Danzig Street last Monday. Around two dozen were also wounded in the incident.

In an article posted on the, Yasay’s sister Jennilyn described the York University criminology student graduate as “very focused and career-driven” guy.

Meanwhile, around a hundred people joined a Walk for Peace to condemn the violence.

Authorities have yet to arrest any suspect two days after the incident.

People who witnessed the crime are urged to call the Toronto Police. However, residents said no one wants to talk about the incident for fear of reprisal from gang members. Report from Anne Wong, ABS-CBN Canada
