Filipino diaspora summit in Middle East cancelled

MANILA - The Regional Summit of Filipinos in the Diaspora in the Middle East has been cancelled.

The announcement was made by Secretary Imelda Nicolas of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).

"The decision was mutually agreed upon by the organizers due to reasons beyond their control," Nicolas said in an announcement posted on the CFO website.

The regional summit was originally scheduled on October 16-18, 2014 in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

"We would like to thank everyone for your support and interest to participate in the Regional Summit. We also extend our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this cancellation has caused," added Nicolas.

Meanwhile, the 3rd Global Summit of Filipinos in the Diaspora: "Vision and Action for the Filipino Diaspora 2015 and beyond" will push through on February 25-27, 2015 in Manila.
