Balitang America wins Telly Awards

CALIFORNIA – Balitang America was recently honored with trophies by the 35th Telly Awards, the premier award honoring the finest film and video productions in the United States.

The Balitang America documentary "Skating on Thin Ice" produced and reported by Steve Angeles won a bronze trophy.

Angeles' documentary followed the story of history-making Filipino ice skater Michael Martinez as he captivated the nation when he competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.

Also winning a bronze trophy is Balitang America's technology report on revolutionizing the money transfer business, produced and reported by North America bureau chief, Paul Henson.

Henson reported on a Silicon Valley start-up that aims to reduce the cost of money transfer by allowing person to person transactions using a smartphone.

Henson and Angeles' pieces were shot by Jeremiah Ysip and edited by Jon Santos and Daniel Manansala.

Meantime, Adobo Nation won a bronze trophy for its feature entitled "The Prodigy", about 11-year old Muay Thai fighter Justin Rodriguez.
