Marites Ruiz Albaran

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is looking for the relatives of Marites Ruiz Albaran, an ailing Filipina who has been staying in a hospital in Japan for over five years now.

In a public advisory, DFA said that in 2008, the 40-year old Albaran underwent an operation in a hospital near Tokyo, Japan to remove a tumor in her thoracic cavity.

The said procedure resulted in severe bleeding which caused her to become bedridden.

Albaran’s condition has since progressed but she still needs the assistance of nurses to be able to eat and use the comfort room.

The Japanese hospital claimed that she also has difficulty in speaking as a result of her having the Lance-Adams Syndrome.

Since 2002, Albaran’s Japanese visa has already expired. She wishes to return to the Philippines and be left in the care of her family.

According to DFA’s public advisory, Albaran’s mother is named Wilma or Nanay Inday and her last address in the Philippines is 18 B2, Block 7, Lot 7, NGCHP, Pilot area, Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City.

Albaran is also in need of financial help to support her continued medical treatment.

Those who have information about Albaran’s family and relatives may contact DFA or the Philippine Embassy in Japan.
