MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) is resuming the deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to the Kingdom of Bahrain in light of the lifting of the state of national security in the country.
According to a press statement from POEA, they are now resuming the processing of employment documents of Filipino workers to Bahrain, after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) downgraded the security classification of the country from alert level 2 to alert level 1.
POEA Administrator Carlos S. Cao Jr. said that with the security classification back to alert level 1, the deployment ban to Bahrain was effectively lifted.
Both newly hired and returning OFWs can now be deployed to Bahrain.
The DFA raised the security classification of Bahrain to alert level 2 last March 2011.
