OSLO - Bantay Bata 163 Friends in Norway gathered Filipinos and Norwegians alike in a 'Family Fun Run for a Cause' to support medical missions for ABS-CBN Foundation’s Bantay Bata program in the Philippines.
On its second year, Family Run for a Cause is being organized by the group to raise health awareness and funds for the welfare projects for Filipino children.
The Fun Run had 2K, 5K, and 10K events and was held at the scenic Paradisbukta, 10 kilometers from the Oslo center last Saturday, May 31.
"Para kasi ito sa mga medical expenses nung maysakit na mga bata (sa Pilipinas)," Bantay Bata 163 coordinator Joy Infantado Fresnedi told ABS-CBN Europe Bureau.
She also said the event is not only helping the sick kids in the Philippines, but also to encourage families to start a health routine and have “fun”.
Joining almost a hundred people who showed up for the event, Kjetl Engja came with his son and his friend to show their solidarity to the Filipinos in Oslo.
"We support you. We know it has been a hard time. My son is with me and his friend, Stian is also joining this (event)," Engja excitedly told this reporter.
The Mai family ruled the 2K event with father Tu Mai winning first place and his children, Karla and Ivan Tran, winning second and third place.
The Norwegians however ruled the 5k and 10K events with Ingvild Hjertaas clocking first in the 5k event followed by Haakon Henningsen and Karla Waal. For the 10K, Joergen Fakiri finished first with Dennis Jakobsen and Christoffer Wilner taking second and third place.
Winners in the events got medals, certificates and one year gym memberships and drop-in card for Fresh Fitness gym. They also got gift items from the event sponsors.
