KUWAIT – Four distressed Filipino workers staying at a shelter of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait claimed they were pimped by the post's janitress.
Of the four, only one of them, identified as "Racquel", gave her side of the story to ABS-CBN Middle East Bureau.
Racquel has been staying at the embassy shelter for over a year and a half while waiting for the resolution of her case.
She was raped by her Kuwaiti employer and two of his siblings in 2012. She was rescued by embassy personnel in December of the same year but up until now, her case is still unresolved.
At the shelter, she met Leonora Imperial, who worked as a janitor at the embassy.
She claimed that Imperial pimped her to an Iranian who owns a furniture shop in Hawally. According to her, Imperial offered her work and brought her to the Iranian.
"Sabi po ni Leonora Imperial, 'Iwanan ka namin dito kay 'baba'... Si 'baba' na lang ang bahala sa iyo magbalik doon sa embassy, pwedeng bukas ka na isoli doon sa embassy.' Doon talaga ako natakot, ibinugaw niya talaga ako. Kasi wala namang tao doon, yong Arabo lang kaya di talaga ako pumayag na maiwan doon," she said.
For her part, Imperial vehemently denied the allegations hurled against her.
"Hindi po totoo yong binibintang nila sa akin at handa po akong humarap sa lahat ng akusasyon kahit sa anong imbestigasyon po," she said.
Still, Ambassador Lamberto Monsanto suspended Imperial and at the same time, launched an investigation into the case.
