CARSON, California - Thousands joined in a month-long event to thank kapamilyas who have been supporting Balitang America and ABS-CBN International Foundation for 10 years now.

The goal of the “Para Sa Inyo Kapamilya” was to raise funds for poor children in the Philippines and other worthwhile projects through a benefit concert, and to reach out to Filipinos in America in tough economic times by providing free public services.

The event at the Home Depot Center last Saturday was the culmination of four weeks of public service fairs held in different Northern and Southern California locations.

The fairs provided free consultations on important matters like immigration, healthcare, housing and mortgage, as well as debt resolution.

One woman said she was able to save thousands of dollars in lawyers’ fees by getting free immigration advice at the fair on how to renew her husband’s green card.

Many came from other states just to enjoy being among kababayans while others flew in from Canada for the event.
The Mercado family came all the way from Ohio. “We are so happy. We feel like we are just in the Philippines.”

After the fair, the Para sa Inyo Kapamilya benefit concert wowed people with its star-studded line-up that included Charice, Martin Nievera, Bamboo, Cheesa, and the hottest love team Xian Lim and Kim Chiu.

Jojo Ellis, an avid fan said, “It feels great to see Xian and Kim for the first time.”

Viewers said it was more than their favorite stars that brought them to the City of Carson.

Lenie Daldoss said, “It really feels good to be here because we’re helping.”

Proceeds of the Para Sa Inyo Kapamilya benefit concert go to ABS-CBN Foundation International’s charitable programs, among them Bantay-Bata that helps indigent children in the Philippines.
