MANILA, Philippines – A Filipina maid was sentenced to death for trafficking cocaine into Malaysia three years ago.
Vice President Jejomar Binay has already instructed Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Eduardo Malaya to extend all assistance to the overseas Filipino worker.
“I ask everyone to pray for her, and I appeal once again to our kababayans to be more prudent if asked by strangers to carry their luggage,” Binay said.
The Jakarta Post reported that the sentence against the Pinay was handed down by Judge Mohd Sofian Abdul Razal of the High Court in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
The court said the defense's argument was mere denial, the report added.
The 45-year-old Pinay was caught in possession of 1126.9 grams of cocaine at the Puduraya Bus Terminal in Kuala Lumpur on August 28, 2009.
