MANILA, Philippines – A 23-year-old Filipina who had been working in Singapore for just a week, returned to her hometown in Davao in a wooden box.

Apple Gamale allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the balcony of the condominium where she was working.

In a translation, Gamale’s cousin Lorena Mejos said, “Hindi kami binibigyan ng report ng police. Walang mga picture. May 4 dumating siya doon, pagka-Miyerkules namatay na? Wala man lang autopsy".

The Gamale family believes foul play was involved in the death of the OFW.

Gamale’s remains arrived in Davao from Singapore on Wednesday. Her family brought her remains to Lupon in Davao Oriental where a wake will be held for the OFW.

The OFW’s brother, Reynaldo, said the family is thinking of having her remains autopsied.

They are also seeking help from the government to give justice for the death of their kin.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), will provide financial help to the family. Report from Francis Magbanua, ABS-CBN News
