REDWOOD CITY, California - Embassy officials visited two Filipino nationals under protective custody of US authorities in connection with a possible human trafficking case.

Consul General Ariel Peñaranda and Labor Attaché Luzviminda Padilla spent an hour with the two Filipina workers.

The two Filipinas welcomed the visit by embassy officials who brought with them clothes, phone cards and other essentials.

NBC Washington reported last week that US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations and Fairfax County Police were called to a home in McLean, Virginia and rescued two Filipinas who were reportedly working for a Saudi attaché, under “circumstances that amounted to human trafficking.”
