MANILA -- Two Filipino nationals were rescued from an alleged human trafficking incident in the US, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday.

DFA Spokesperson Raul S. Hernandez, in a text message, said the two Filipinos are now under the care of US authorities, according to a report from the Philippine embassy in Washington, D.C.

"Our embassy officials will be visiting the two Filipinos early next week and are ready to extend the necessary assistance to them," Hernandez said.

He gave no other details regarding the Filipinos or the incident but assured the DFA will be closely monitoring the case.

"An ongoing investigation on the case is being conducted by US authorities," he added.
