MANILA - A Filipino woman was among those whose homes were inundated by floodwater in Pensacola, Florida.
Marietta Castillo told Balitang America in a phone interview that their home was partially damaged by flood.
"Mabuti na po kami," she said.
Reuters reported that about 11 inches of rain pounded Pensacola on Wednesday.
Castillo said they expect the damage caused by the flood to their home to reach around $15,000 to $20,000.
"Unfortunately, wala po kaming flood insurance kasi di namin inaasahan na ganito ang mangyayari sa amin," she said.
Castillo said electricity has been restored in their area.
"Ang mga kababayan natin dito, pare-pareho kaming napinsala ng flashflood sa Pensacola, pero bumabango pa rin kami," she said.
She added the Filipino community despite being affected by the flooding continue to help kababayans in need. With Balitang America
