DOWNEY, California – The temperature is getting hotter and the stakes are getting higher.

Chef Bev Lazo is the first Filipino to enter the hit cooking reality series “Hell’s Kitchen”.

To mark her continuing run on the show, Lazo hosted an “eat-and-greet” at the Mambo Grill, where visitors watched episode 7 of Hell's Kitchen.

"A lot of people don’t realize when you’re in ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ it’s a whole different experience. But when you’re a chef outside ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ you get to be who you are and represent and it’s in my food,” Lazo said.

Lazo cooked up some of her signature dishes as friends, supporters, foodies, and fellow contestants watched her prepare some pizza for Chef Gordon Ramsay and his celebrity guests.

“I love the tacos. Taco is amazing, has really great flavor, and enough spice. Also the wings are delicious,” foodie Angela Lesaca said.

Lazo quietly survived the first six episodes, but episode seven proved to be lucky for her as the 42-year-old Pangasinan-born chef helped the Red team win.

“There were people making thin dough, that’s why it was getting soggy. But I was in charge of putting it in the oven so I’m not putting names out there, but for those making the thin crust pizzas — it wasn’t happening. It was just trying to do the teamwork,” Chef Bev recalled.

“To know we’ve gone this far with him liking our food, giving us compliments, being able to work as a team together is a great experience,” fellow contestant Chef Rochelle Bergman said.

Season 12 of “Hell’s Kitchen” is now near the halfway point.

Lazo and Bergman remain among the 13 finalists.
