CALIFORNIA – Filipino-American singer Ellona Santiago went back to school in the Bay Area while still continuing her singing career.
"It was a little bit of a struggle. It's been the best of both worlds because while I was at school I was also still singing and trying to perform at various events," said the X Factor finalist.
The 17-year old singer was a special guest performer at The Filipino Channel's (TFC) 20th year celebration where she wowed the audience with her powerful voice.
"I feel very honored because this is such a huge thing. Even before I got to sing here, I actually know about the Gawad Geny Lopez Awards and my parents used to watch it all the time also. So now, they get to watch me on it," Santiago said.
The singer has been getting invitations from Philippine producers. She said when a firm offer comes along she would love to visit her fans and relatives in the country.
Apart from singing, Santiago also wants to try acting in a Filipino teleserye, especially if it would mean working opposite her Pinoy actor crush, Enrique Gil.
"We could make a love team," she said.
However, Santiago admitted that she doesn't have time for a relationship right now with her career and studies taking priority.
Santiago flew to Ohio to perform at a major anti-bullying event. Her next big concert will be held in Canada this August.
