NEW YORK – Filipino activists staged a lightning protest early this week inside the Philippine Consulate.

Filipinos who were waiting for their passports and other consulate services were surprised to find themselves in the middle of a protest which didn't have permission from the Philippine Consulate.

Bayan USA and other Filipino activist groups stormed the Philippine Center's Lobby and broke into a protest using their mic.

Their demand was to stop the Philippine-US war games or Balikatan and get the US military out of the Philippines.

“We condemn the Aquino government for his puppetry. He shouldn't be putting our country at risk. The US interest is not the interest of our people,” the activists said.

Philippine Consulate staff tired but failed to get the protesters to leave the premises.

Pinoys who were against this sort of “Occupy Philippine Consulate” protest say the consulate lobby is not the right place to hold such protest. They can always hold protests outside on the streets of 5th Avenue.
