DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – The family and friends of Bb. Pilipinas Tourism Parul Shah were overjoyed with her achievement in the prestigious beauty contest recently.

"I am happy when I saw my daughter having a crown. I jumped and I told to my husband 'My God! Look, your daughter is having a crown," said Shah's mother, Luzviminda.

Shah's mother is a Filipina and her father is an Indian expat working as a company driver. The beauty queen is second among four siblings.

"When I saw her on the stage I can't believe my eyes," said her equally proud father, Pramod Kumar.

Shah was crowned Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 2014 during the coronation night last March 30.

"Tear of joys. I am proud of my daughter of course. We are all proud of you Nini. We love you too much," said her mother.

Shah was only allowed by her mother to join a beauty contest once she finished her nursing course as three other siblings are still in school.

And like any other concerned parents, Shah's father wants her to take good care of her life.

"Parul, you got this crown that is okay but make sure you secure your life. That is important," he said. Report from Rachel Salinel, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau
