LOS ANGELES – The Philippine Airlines passenger accused of punching a flight attendant while drunk appeared in federal court on Tuesday to enter his guilty plea.
Edgar Nonga settled with prosecutors on a plea deal in the February incident when he was believed to have been drunk on a Los Angeles-bound PAL flight.
He then allegedly went on to punch a crew member before being restrained.
Under the agreement, Nonga pleaded guilty to one count of simple assault within a maritime and territorial jurisdiction considered a Class B misdemeanor.
Nonga will be back in court on August 1 for his sentencing hearing.
He faces a maximum prison sentence of six months and a $1,000 fine.
