MANILA – Philippine passport applicants in Oman need not bother calling the embassy to check if their travel documents are ready for pick up.
This after the embassy in Muscat introduced the use of SMS notification on March 18 to let the applicants know that their passports are now available.
"They no longer need to inquire through telephone or e-mail," the embassy said in a press statement.
Virgilio Castillo, a Filipino workshop supervisor at Mercedes Benz, was very pleased upon receiving an SMS from the embassy about the release of his passport.
Castillo, who has been in Oman for more than 30 years, commended the Embassy for its initiative and commitment to overseas Filipino workers like him.
The embassy said the SMS notification is part of its continued effort to improve the delivery of consular services to the public.
