MANILA - A Filipino nurse in Ireland is facing one charge of assault after he taped his patient's mouth last year.
Online news reports in Ireland identified the Pinoy as Bimbo Paden, 39 years old.
The incident happened on June 26, 2013 at the St. John's Hospital in Sligo.
The Irish Examiner said that judge Kevin Kilrane found out that Paden had worked in "inequitable, unreasonable and unsafe" conditions, based on the HSE report (Health Service Executive).
In another report by the Irish Independent, it stated that Paden had been working alone attending to the needs of nine patients when he placed a surgical tape across the mouth of another patient, Kevin Quinn.
Reports said Paden taped Quinn's mouth to stop him from shouting and upsetting another patient.
The Irish Examiner further reported that the father of three had been working in the hospital for 12 years. The incident with Quinn was his first professional lapse in his career as a nurse.
The next court hearing is set for April 10.
