MANILA - Malaya Watson, who received a standing ovation for her performance on Wednesday night, made it to the next round of American Idol Season 13.
Watson, the remaining 'Idol' contestant with Filipino roots, is safe during the reveal night on Thursday (Friday morning in Manila).
The tuba player from Southfield High School was in the bottom three the previous week. But she bounced back this week by performing the first gospel song she ever learned, her rendition of Tamela Mann’s “Take Me to the King.”
That performance gained her praise from judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr.,
Meanwhile, Emily Piriz--who was with Jena Irene and MK Nobilette in the Bottom 3--bid American Idol goodbye after the judges did not use their power to save her.
