Body of Qatar blast victim set to arrive
MANILA – One of the two Filipino fatalities in the gas tank explosion in Doha, Qatar will arrive on Wednesday afternoon, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said.
The body of Charlie de Castro is scheduled to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) via Qatar Airways flight QR926.
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz directed OWWA Chief Carmelita Dimzon to extend full assistance to the family of the late OFW upon arrival at the airport and release immediately the benefits due the family.
De Castro, a native of Batangas, was among those killed in the accident last February 27. Two other Filipino workers were also injured in the blast.
The 29-year-old worked as a merchandiser at the Family Food Center in Doha.
He is survived by his mother, sister, and brother.
The OWWA Repatriation Team and OWWA officials will be at the Cargo Terminal to facilitate the release of the remains.
